Supply, Installation and commissioning of street lighting system along Kibuye - Entebbe Road (Zana - Mpala section (19km))
Project Summary
Completion: June, 2026
Deliverables:Â Supply, installation, and commissioning of 1,520 solar street lights
In a massive infrastructure initiative aimed at drastically enhancing nighttime safety, urban security, and environmental sustainability, Green Power International Limited is spearheading the installation of a comprehensive solar street lighting system along the critical Kibuye-Entebbe Road corridor. Covering the 19km Zana-Mpala section, this project modernizes Uganda’s primary transit route with advanced renewable energy solutions.
Advancing Infrastructure with Solar Innovation
The scope of this project involves the strategic deployment of 1,520 advanced solar street lights positioned 25 meters apart on both sides of the dual highway, as well as along key selected access roads.
By replacing reliance on traditional, grid-tied fossil fuel electricity with autonomous photovoltaic technology, the new installation provides continuous, reliable, and cost-effective illumination. This clean energy alternative directly supports Uganda’s climate resilience goals by significantly curbing carbon emissions.
A Sustainable Solution for Masaka City
Unlike conventional street lights that rely on fossil fuels or grid electricity, solar-powered street lights offered by Green Power International Ltd utilize photovoltaic technology to convert sunlight into electricity. This renewable energy source not only ensures reliable illumination of streets and public spaces but also significantly reduces carbon emissions, making Masaka City a beacon of sustainability in the region.
Transformative Impact on Masaka City
Partnership for Progress
The successful implementation of this project underscores the power of collaboration between Green Power International Ltd, CHICO, and community stakeholders. Together, they have worked tirelessly to realize the vision of a safer, more sustainable Masaka City, setting a shining example for other municipalities to follow.
